It’s like painting your toe nails red!

Okay, so I know you are asking the question, “what is Michele talking about now”? Well first of all, I’m not a high maintenance kind of gal (to be quite honest). Sure, I like for my hair to look good and all but I don’t fuss about it if it decides to be lazy. I spend about 30 minutes total getting dressed in the morning. That includes shower, make-up, hair and putting my clothes on. Outside of that time frame seems like a waste of time for me. I don’t wear blush or a lot of makeup in general, maybe more than some and less than others I guess. I also don’t bother so much with accessories like earrings because you can’t see my ears for my hair, so I figure why bother. I’m not one for wearing my hair up either…nope not into all that fuss. I like a simple, classic and no-nonsense approach to getting ready in the morning. I feel my day is already full of other stressors so why add to it?

I view the government the same way. Sure, from time to time I get the urge to paint my toe nails, but I’m not one to go sit in a nail salon and have someone do it for me. I’m more of the “do it yourself” kinda gal.  Unlike our government that has decided  not only do they want their toe nails painted on a daily basis, but they want to have hair, makeup, tanning and a personal shopper to go along with it! Kind of like the “Rodeo Drive” mentality we see from Hollywood elites, only the Government spends OUR money!

Quite frankly I am getting tired of having such a high maintenance government. I feel for you men (and women in some cases) who have partners/spouses who are high maintenance. How exhausting it must be to not only pay for that habit, but to keep up with the “wants” as well! Like a high maintenance woman/man our Government decides almost daily what new pet project they want us taxpayers to fit the bill for. Just like people who are on the Government dime for so long, they just decide “well if the taxpayers are willing to pay me to do nothing all day, then why bother getting a job”?

Now we see Democrats using this strategy in the talking points, only they mask it with “the Republicans want to kill poor people” mantra.  You know Debbie Wasserman Schultz is a prime example of the Democratic mantra of divisive crap throwing. Every day she finds a camera and someone willing to give her face national attention and she goes with this “Republicans want to take us back to Jim Crow days” or “Republican policies will hurt the poor and elderly” and the sad part of it is, there are people who actually believe in what she says!  It is quite discerning to realize people who are voters would rather use snippets from talking points as the gospel instead of doing their own homework and find out what our Government is up to.  On both sides of the aisle, whether Democrat or Republican, politicians are more interested in getting re-elected and keeping that Cadillac health insurance and high salary than they are to do the job they were hired by the people to do.

As Americans, we are watching our great country fall to the “high maintenance” attitude. We really are facing a dire crisis and yet there are people willing to lie to your face on camera and tell you “we don’t have a spending problem”.  Well guess what folks, if you are under the age of 50 we have a problem that we will face when we look to retire and that is “no retirement” and “no social security benefits”.  What I have been paying into the system since I was 15 is paying for someone else to live on Social Security benefits right now!  When I hit 65 or 67, I will have no benefits despite paying for it all these years. Ain’t that a kick in the head!

Democrats want to demonize Paul Ryan for coming out with his budget, but what have the Democrats done for the past 3+ years for a budget to cut the debt? Absolutely nothing…just spend over a trillion each year. Why should the Democrats or Republicans worry about it? After all they will have their retirement and the benefits of having the “edge” when it came to what to invest in all these years! Many of our elected officials are millionaires thanks to us fine voters! The Government version of a great Ponzi scheme right before our eyes but how much do you want to wager that anyone in office will see jail time like Bernie Madoff? Nope, we will just keep on watching our American Idol and the Bachelor while wondering who will JLo marry next? After all, that is what the majority of the younger generation is concerned about. It’s not like they are learning about economics and our history of Government in schools by anything more than liberal scholars whose mentality is the same as our elected officials.

Yep, just like painting your toe nails to feel “special” our Government is systematically getting all the salon services every day with our money and laughing at us tax payers because they know we won’t do anything about it!  Of course unless you decide to get involved and actually do something to change it? Just remember if you do, you will be considered a radical, extremist, racist and any other adjective the progressives want to throw at you…but personally I’ve been called much worse and I really don’t care! Who wants to join me as a radical, racist and extremist?

The most significant election in my lifetime

As a mother and Conservative woman it is not surprising for me to view this election as a critical point in our nation’s future. I say this because we can stay on the same path that the majority of American’s today say is the wrong one or change the course and make America stronger and more prosperous again.  In my view if Obama wins another 4 years, we will see the United States become a more entitled and socialist society.

More Americans today are on food stamps than ever in our history, yet we hear Obama blame Bush. More American’s today are unemployed than ever before, yet we hear Obama blame Bush.  There are fewer jobs today than in 4 years ago, yet we hear Obama blame Bush. Notice the pattern here? Instead of taking the bull by the horns and tackling the problems we face as a country, our leader wants to continue to blame his predecessor. How does this solve the problems we face? It doesn’t really, and neither does pitting American’s against each other based on gender, race or whether or not they are successful.

We should not be surprised however at the path America is on right now. After all, many in the conservative media tried their best to vet then Senator Barack Obama. His views, ideology and how he was raised is in direct correlation of where our country is headed.  Obama believes in redistribution of wealth. He believes we should take from those who have money and give to those who don’t.  Today, there is no excuse as to why someone is not successful, nada. It is merely a choice one makes on whether or not they choose to have something in life worth working for.  Many have lived on welfare for generations, yet they will blame the “rich” because they are too lazy to make the same choices that a person who is successful made.  Maybe that sounds harsh for some, but that is just a simple fact. You can go to college, earn a degree and open your own business if you are a minority (black, brown, female it doesn’t matter). We see it happen everyday and yet hate merchants like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson or Van Jones would suggest “whites/conservatives” hate Obama or hate the poor. Interesting concept for Sharpton, Jackson and Jones to come up with huh? Van Jones and Al Sharpton frequent the White House, so is that the sentiment our President also has? Scary to even imagine.

Come this November, we as American’s have the option to sit at home and complain about our lot in life, or take our fannies out and vote.  It’s not a right but a privilege to make our voice known.  I will make the choice to nominate Mitt Romney on that day. Sure, I will be the first to admit that he was not my first choice, but who I voted for didn’t make the process so why do I want to punish America by voting for someone who has no chance to win (like Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich or any other write- in candidate) and help Barack Obama succeed in another term? Trust me, if Obama wins the election, nothing will stop him from putting in radical progressive changes in our Government, the likes we have never seen except in Greece or other countries who are near bankruptcy.  We owe that to our children and grand children who will inherit this mess.  Should we as voters have protested the spending before now? Absolutely! So now do we say we just give up or do we fight for our kid’s existence! I’m in the mood for a fight…so are many other Americans! Let’s go for it!

He died for me and I won’t take him out of my life for Government’s sake

As I was driving to the radio station this afternoon, I found myself thinking about this Good Friday and what it really means in today’s world.  The Government and certain people in society would like for us to take God out of everything. I understand the separation between church and state, so that is not my argument here.  What I notice is that God has been systematically taken out of our lives each day and we have suffered for it as a society.

Back in the day, when I was in elementary school I sat down with my classmates and we would sing 2 inspirational songs and say the Lord’s Prayer. This only occurred after we stood and said our Pledge of Allegiance.  We didn’t take God out of our day, we started our day with Him. We were raised that if we did something wrong at school, we would not only face punishment at the school but punishment would be waiting for us at home as well. Even our neighbors were involved if we did something we knew was wrong.  As a kid, I worried about how my actions affected my parents. I wanted to make them proud of me and the worst time in my life was when my father looked at me and said “your actions tonight disappointed me”.  I will never forget that moment. That was the first, last and ONLY time my father ever said that to my face. It mattered that much!

I raised my kids in the same manner, yet I realize in some aspects I still failed.  God is not as important as he should be in their lives and that saddens me. That is my fault and as a responsible adult I can change that. My oldest is an adult, so what he decides to do with his life is his own choice, but I can still remind him of following God’s plan.  My youngest who is a teenager hears what I say on how God matters and he sees my daily devotions with God matter to me. Still I need to make sure that I walk with God in everything I do.

In this life, I am afraid as many Christ followers are that the message of His love is being lost with all the evil influences in our daily life experiences.  With the internet, cable and music of today our kids are being exposed to so many horrible and evil images that destroy their image of how life should be lived.  We as parents must be responsible to monitor everything our kids are exposed to and stop the negative. We are not our kids friends but our kids parents and mentors for how we should live each day.  It is up to us to stop them from watching things that are not appropriate, play video games that show extreme violence or language, and monitor what they see on the internet.

In addition, we have to make sure that what our kids are taught in our schools match what our moral beliefs are. We should not allow our kids to become indoctrinated in liberal ideology that would rather re-write history than remember what history truly is.  We as parents must remember where our loyalties lie and we must never allow our Government take God away from us.

As I have stated in other blogs, we are in a true crossroads of life and we have the opportunity to take the path back to moral values and greatness or continue down the path of destruction.  Many in the Bible who took the path of destruction were met with their own demise and we must learn from that part of our history.

It’s not too late, but we can not assume someone will do it for us. We must be involved for our kids sake. Today is Good Friday and today Jesus sacrificed his life because he loved me. God gave me his only Son to show his love for me. It is up to me to make sure I never turn my back on that kind of love. Especially when my Government tries to take God out of my life, I should stand up and say “you won’t touch my God, my faith, or my religion”!  Won’t you join me?

Divided we fall….

Wow…when you look at what is happening on social media outlets or cable television  today it is no wonder that many of us are thinking to ourselves “we are a divided nation”.  To take a step back and truly look at where we have gone wrong would mean we would have to travel back in time and in my opinion it all falls on how we were raised as a child.

I remember as a kid my twin brother and I would listen to the music our parents played in either the home or the 8 track in the car. Our musical taste in the home was very diverse, from the Drifters to Floyd Cramer to Peter Frampton; our parents listened to every genre and as an adult I can say “Wow, we were blessed”!  That diversity was also reflected in our friendships as well and once again I am so glad that the color of someone’s skin was never a criteria of whether or not I would be a friend.

Work ethic was something we learned to make important as kids.  If we wanted something that was outside of a necessity then we had to earn the money to buy it ourselves.  My brother and I not only had chores to do around the house but we also began outside work at a plant nursery when we were just 14 years old. That was how we spent our summer in 1979. Every penny we earned went to school clothes we wanted in addition to what our parents had budgeted for (as well as any toiletries or special hair products). It was that work ethic that assisted me in my adult years and especially during the years as a single parent.

I consider myself a christian and a conservative in my values.  Some people would then consider me “an extremist” and yet I don’t understand why? In our nation today we are facing a monumental historic election for 2012.  Our debt as a nation is just shy of $16 trillion and yet our Government in charge would say we still must continue to spend without a budget? If each family unit must live by a budget every month to make ends meet, why not our Government?

This is our children and grandchildren’s future we are playing with here. We as a Nation have ignored our spending habits of those we elected in office for far too long.  We were giving our Government a blank check and in the process those elected officials forgot who they represented and instead not only made themselves rich but their special interest friends as well.  Now we are facing dire circumstances where entitlement spending alone will bankrupt our nation! When you add other pieces of the Government pie it is no longer self-sustaining.

We have Socialists, Marxists, Anarchists, Communists and other Progressive groups who are willing to see the economy collapse so they can take fodder in pushing for a socialist society. To me that mentality is extremist in concept. Say what you will with the liberal mindset, but the very “rich” people you like to label as villains  are the very same who employ the majority of  the American people. The Mom and Pop stores who rely on community involvement to support their businesses are closing and the environment is not supporting the idea of anyone taking that risk to try once again.

It is now up to the citizens who work hard every day for what they earn to stand up and take notice. The moderate/blue dog democrats and the moderate/conservative republicans must realize that we are in a fight to save our society as we know it. Otherwise we will no longer be a free society but one ruled by a Dictator. As a nation we spend more money on healthcare, education, military defense and entitlement programs combined than any other country on the planet, yet we fail in all those areas.  We have so much waste in Government spending that every administration has promised to cut that waste but never follows through with actions.

In my lifetime I have never witnessed a more divisive President as I do with Barack Obama. Despite the fact that I didn’t vote for him in 2008, I still had a hope inside that he would be a great leader.  However, what I see is a POTUS who continues to promote a warfare pitting citizen against citizen. Whether it is class warfare, a created war on women, or the rich against the poor, we are systematically being pitted against one another. That is not how it is supposed to be, not in this country.

I am afraid for my kids future….your kids future….so we must get involved, become educated on more than just who is winning on Idol or who the next Top Model will be and vote this November 2012 to change the course of our great nation! Lesser government is the key not more government. Reform is another must for our Government. Come on! We can do it! We must do it!

“When you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing; when you see that money is flowing to those who deal not in goods, but in favors; when you see that men get rich more easily by graft than by work, and your laws no longer protect you against them, but protect them against you… you may know that your society is doomed.” … Ayn Rand
